I recently came across Elonka Nichole Designs on Facebook (where I spend far too much time, I have to admit). I discovered that her beautiful baby and adult sized blankets, bibs, car seat canopies and other gift items, are hand made right here in Washington State.
After her son was born, Elonka had a difficult time finding decor items for his room in fabric patterns that weren’t overused and boring. This void sparked a creative mission to design unique and tasteful items for herself and eventually for others. A small personal line fulfilled that void and when word got out, she went from giving her creations as gifts to taking orders.
Continually adding new and innovative products to her line, Elonka asked if I would review her newest creation. It’s a car seat canopy that can also be a blanket and a nursing cover. Three products in one. I love a multi-tasking product, especially when it saves space in my diaper bag, so I was really excited to check it out. The canopy is available in a variety of fabric patterns. I chose the argyle, because it’s kind of nerdy/preppy, which I dig. The argyle fabric is a nice thick cotton and is lined with a super soft minky in a contrasting color.
The tabs used to attach the canopy to the car seat have a hook and loop (Velcro) closure with no frilly buttons or bows, which I love. I like simple, clean designs. This also allows the item to lay flat for use as a blanket. since I had the camera out I decided to snap a few pics of Cyrus. This will be his 14 week baby picture. Isn’t he cute?
One of the car seat canopy loops unrolls to become a strap and converts the canopy to a nursing cover. While I avoid nursing in public at all costs, this is perfect to have on hand in a pinch, especially since I don’t have to buy an additional product. This gave ample coverage and the soft minky fabric is nice against my baby’s skin. I think this would make such a great gift for expectant parents.
The 3-in-1 version of the car seat canopy from Elonka Nichole is still being perfected and will be available soon. In the meantime, Elonka has generously provided a regular car seat canopy for one lucky winner.
